Mary Magdalene was a woman who , according to the four canonical gospels, traveled with Jesus as one of his followers and was a witness to his crucifixion and resurrection. For these reasons, Mary Magdalene is known in some Christian traditions as the "apostle to the apostles". She is mentioned by name twelve times in the canonical gospels, more than most of the apostles and more than any other woman in the gospels, other than Jesus's family. Mary Magdalene is a powerful patron saint of women. She served Christ and was baptized by St. Maximin. She was canonized by the process known as the Sense of the Faithful  long before the Church had created the formal act of canonization. This cross is dedicated to her and to the women she protects.
